Students analyze complex texts, discuss ideas, and write for varied purposes — deepening comprehension, argument, and voice.

Building on earlier foundations, students focus on proportional reasoning, algebraic thinking, and problem-solving in line with PA Core expectations.

Our secondary science program is grounded in the Next Generation Science Standards and emphasizes learning through investigation and inquiry. Students explore real-world phenomena, analyze data, and build scientific understanding across biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science. The focus is on developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in using evidence to make sense of the world. 

Themes of government, economics, and cultural understanding help students see their role in society and think critically about history and change.

The Counseling Program at Martin Luther School helps students grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Our counselors use the research-based WhyTry curriculum and teach lessons directly in the classroom. These lessons help students learn important life skills like handling emotions, making good choices, building confidence, and showing respect for others. Counseling lessons also support our school’s core values, giving students tools they can use every day—at school, at home, and in their relationships.

Our librarian sources current books and best practices in this area. All classes have equal access to both regularly scheduled library time as well as research opportunities.

Students explore identity and expression through performance and design, learning to collaborate and share their creativity with others.

Our outdoor education program gives students the chance to learn, explore, and connect with nature right on our campus. From hands-on science investigations to creative projects and team challenges, the outdoors becomes an extension of the classroom.

Emphasis on fitness, teamwork, and personal goal-setting supports health, leadership, and confidence.

Integrated projects combine coding, engineering, and creative problem-solving — preparing students for high school-level innovation.

Our World Language program introduces students to new languages and cultures in meaningful and engaging ways. Students build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while developing confidence in communication. Through interactive activities and cultural exploration, students gain a deeper understanding of the world and its people.
