Supporting the Whole Student
At Martin Luther School, we know that learning doesn’t happen only inside the classroom. Students may need support beyond the classroom to help them fully engage in their education. That’s where Related Services come in. These specialized services are designed to address specific needs that may be affecting a student’s ability to learn, communicate, move, or regulate their emotions. Related Services are included in each student’s IEP based on their individual needs.

Speech-Language Therapy
Speech therapy identifies, evaluates, and provides interventions for a wide variety of communication disorders students may experience. Whether a student struggles with articulation, language comprehension, social communication, or expressing their thoughts clearly, our speech-language pathologists develop individualized programs to help each student reach their academic and social goals.

Occupational Therapy
Students who experience fine motor, coordination, and sensory regulation needs that affect their learning are paired with occupational therapists who evaluate, identify, and support their progress. Our occupational therapists help students develop skills like handwriting, using tools and materials, organizing their work, and managing sensory input. When needed, we also explore assistive technology to help students engage more fully in their learning. The goal is to help students build independence and confidence in their daily activities.

How Related Services Work
Related services are determined during the IEP process based on your child’s evaluation and needs. Services may be provided individually or in small groups, depending on what works best for your child. Our therapists work closely with classroom teachers to make sure the skills students are learning in therapy carry over into their everyday school experience.
